The 46th running of the New York City Marathon is set for Sunday. Stanley Biwott is the defending champion. The New York Marathon was his first ever World Marathon Majors victory. Unfortunately, he ran into a recent bit of bad luck when he dropped out of the Olympic marathon halfway through.
New York City Marathon 2016 live stream: How to watch the race online
The full New York City Marathon will be available streaming online on Sunday.

The race will be broadcast locally by ABC7 and nationally by ESPN2. That means a live stream will be available online via the ABC7 website if you are located locally, while WatchESPN will carry the live stream nationally. That coverage will last approximately three hours beginning at 9 a.m. ET. There will also be a pre-race show on all of those streams and channels.
The route is a 26.2 mile run starting in Staten Island, going through Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, and an ending in The Bronx. There is a full route here, via the New York Marathon website. Runners start at the west side of the Verrazano bridge.
Biwott is the defending champion, but this race is as important for him as a comeback as it is for him to hold on to his title. Repeating at the marathon is a rarity, though, and it hasn’t happened in more than a decade in consecutive years.
A full list of road closures for the day can be found here.
