Manny Pacquiao staved off Father Time and Jesse Vargas on Saturday night at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, winning a 12-round decision to recapture the WBO Welterweight title.

The 37-year-old Pacquiao outpointed the 27-year-old Vargas on all three scorecards, 118-109 twice and 114-113. Pacquiao knocked down the younger Vargas in the second round to improve to 59-6-2.
Vargas suffered his second loss in 29 career matches.
Saturday was just the second fight for Pacquiao since losing to Floyd Mayweather in May 2015, along with a win over Timothy Bradley this April in their third meeting.
Bradley committing to a third Pacquiao fight left the WBO Welterweight belt vacant, and it was claimed by Vargas with a nine-round TKO of Sadam Ali in March.
“He is a champion so you can’t underestimate him,” Pacquiao told the Associated Press on Friday. “But I still feel fresh and young.”
Mayweather, now retired, was in attendance in the crowd watching Saturday’s fight.
