Another week, another loss for the Green Bay Packers. Sunday’s 31-26 loss to the Colts at Lambeau Field is their third loss in their last four games, and Aaron Rodgers has had enough.
Aaron Rodgers says the Packers need ‘more than just the squirrel on the field.’ He’s wrong.
The Packers quarterback wants to see his team playing with more energy. We know exactly what can help with that.

Rodgers said the Packers needed to be “mentally tougher” than they were in Sunday’s loss. He wants his team to have more energy, more enthusiasm, a problem that trickled out into the home crowd when the Packers were trailing by 18 points at the half.
“We have to respond better, like we did to close out the game, [and] get the crowd involved more than just the squirrel on the field,” Rodgers said after the game.
Maybe a squirrel on the field is EXACTLY what the Packers the need. They’ve been struggling to get their running game going all season, but that furry little varmint that had no problems finding the end zone when he darted out onto the field Sunday.
Just look at him go!
Rodgers had more to say about his team’s energy level.
”I mean, this is what we get paid to do, is to bring it every week, and I hope the guys would say I bring it every week,” Rodgers said. “I mean, I love this game and I bring energy. I’m not a rah-rah guy, but I’m a focused, enthusiastic player, and I don’t know what the lack of juice was. You kind of felt it over the entire sideline.”
You know what did energize the Packers’ sideline? A gritty little squirrel, with the heart of Danny Woodhead and the cutback ability of Eric Dickerson.
Rodgers is right that the Packers need to be playing with more urgency, but he’d be nuts to to dismiss that little squirrel.
