Bill Belichick doesn’t want to talk about his ‘friendship’ with Donald Trump

The Patriots head coach didn’t take kindly to continued questions about his letter to Donald Trump.

On Wednesday, Patriots head coach Bill Belichick elaborated on the letter he sent to Donald Trump and explained that it was about “friendship and loyalty,” not about politics. Once Belichick was finished with the topic, however, he made it clear that he was truly done. On to Seattle.

“I received a number of inquiries relevant to a note that I wrote to Donald on Monday,” Belichick said. “Our friendship goes back many years, and I think anyone who spends about five minutes with me knows I’m not a political person. My comments are not politically motivated — it’s friendship and loyalty to Donald.”

When reporters tried to press the issue after Belichick completed his opening statement, he had just one word for them — Seattle.

“Coach,” a reporter asked, “were you happy or annoyed that Trump read the letter?”

“Seattle,” Belichick replied.

“Your team’s always been good at keeping outside distractions on the outside. Given the nature of this presidential race ...”

“Seattle.”

“... did you find it ...”

“Seattle.”

“... did you find it, uh, helpful to talk to players about ...”

“Seattle.”

“... this? Did any of the players talk to you about this?”

“Seattle.”

“Are there concerns about any locker room rancor as a result of this?”

Here Belichick paused for a long moment, nodding, before simply saying, “Next?”

You’ll hear plenty about Donald Trump in the coming days, but apparently not from Bill Belichick.
