Odell Beckham Jr. and Antonio Brown are two of the league’s most fun players, and will face off on Sunday when the Giants take on the Steelers.
Keyshawn Johnson doesn’t like the ‘diva’ label given to Odell Beckham Jr. and Antonio Brown
He says skill position players just like to have fun.

Beckham and Brown are fun not just because they’re great players, but also because they showcase a variety of dances and excitement to the field with each touchdown. In a game that’s taken too seriously sometimes, they bring their own personalities into our living rooms on Sundays.
Keyshawn Johnson, who had a great 11-year career that included one Super Bowl title with the Buccaneers, likes what Beckham and Brown bring to the table.
“I like what these guys are doing. I think they should keep having fun,” Johnson told ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. “The league will eventually find a sweet spot [with the touchdown celebrations] because people are tired of the league bullying people.”
The celebrations have drawn plenty of attention to both players. Brown’s most popular celebration this season was likely his twerk, or a thrust depending on how you perceive it. Beckham is clearly passionate about his dancing, as he really made the “whip” popular last season, and has done various dances this season, including the one seen in Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.”
Johnson also said that he doesn’t like how receivers are labeled as divas because they like to have fun. “It’s a label that someone gave a receiver and now every wide receiver who has fun is a diva,” Johnson said. “... I personally don’t like how people refer to that word. Skill position players in general are fun and have fun. That’s just the way it is.”
Beckham, more than Brown has been labeled as a diva, especially earlier this season. It seemed his early lack of production really got to him, and had a couple of outbursts that were affecting the team. It got to the point where the Giants were prepared to bench him.
As far as Brown goes, there was some backlash from Ben Roethlisberger after his celebration in their Thanksgiving victory over the Indianapolis Colts. The Steelers received an unsportsmanlike penalty when Brown celebrated with Le’Veon Bell. Roethlisberger said that the team talked to Brown about it, saying that, “We put our kick coverage team in a bad situation and we can’t have it, and AB knows that.”
Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin has no problems with how he operates, though. “Antonio is a hard worker, a guy who’s highly emotional,” Tomlin said. “He’s got a lot invested. He wants to be the reason why we’re successful and we win. I don’t have issue with any of those things.”
Sunday afternoon, two of the NFL’s best receivers and personalities will face off at Heinz Field. In a game that has playoff implications for both teams, we could be in for a real treat — and maybe a celebration or two.
