Mike Zimmer returns to coach the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday against the Jaguars, a week after surgery to repair a detached retina in his right eye. He’ll be doing it with the help of his training staff and an eye patch, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.

The Vikings coach is still recovering from surgery to repair a detached retina.

Zimmer’s eye patch is blocking out his right eye, which is still causing some double vision. He can see normally out of his left eye. However, that still limits his vision, and the training staff will be by his side during the game to help keep him from getting plowed by players on the field.
His doctors would prefer that he coach from the booth, but Zimmer wasn’t having any of that.
“We’ll be okay,” is what he said when asked about his eye and coaching from the sideline this week.
Zimmer missed last week’s game, a loss to the Dallas Cowboys, because of the surgeries, one before and one after that game.
At 6-6, the Vikings are not yet eliminated from the playoff hunt, but they need every win they can get to have a shot.
