Jeff Fisher was just one more defeat away from becoming the NFL’s all-time losingest coach, but Dan Reeves wasn’t able to wipe that title off officially and now has to share it with Fisher.
Jeff Fisher was 1 loss away from being the NFL’s biggest all-time loser
Now he’s just tied with Dan Reeves for most career losses.

Both coaches have 165 career losses and it seems very unlikely that either will be an NFL head coach again. It also isn’t a record that looks like it will be broken any time soon, as the next-closest active head coach is Bill Belichick with 115 losses.
In 22 seasons as an NFL head coach, Fisher finished with a winning record in just six of those years and, while he matched Reeves in losses, he was still well behind in wins:
Coach | Years | Team(s) | W | L | T |

Fisher began his NFL coaching career in 1986 as a defensive backs coach for the Philadelphia Eagles. After climbing through the assistant coaching ranks, Fisher was named the interim coach of the Houston Oilers in 1994 and was later promoted to full-time head coach.
After four years of hovering around .500, Fisher broke out with double-digit wins in four of five years, including a trip to Super Bowl XXXIV. But his last winning season was in 2008 and he had just a 31-45-1 record in his five seasons with the Rams.
