Washington safety Deshazor Everett was not suspended for the hit that landed Philadelphia Eagles running back Darren Sproles in the concussion protocol. Everett will, however, face a $48,000 fine for that hit as well as one other penalty from Sunday’s game, according to Master Tesfatsion of the Washington Post.

Everett will not face a suspension for the hit on Sproles.

Everett leveled Sproles as he tried to field a punt. Sproles remained on the ground for several minutes before being helped off the field.
Everett said he would take the hit back if he could.
“If I could have taken that split second back, I definitely would,” Everett said, via Mike Jones and Mark Maske of the Washington Post. “It’s too late. You can’t take it back. You can’t rewind. It’s not a video game. You make choices out there on the field, and you’ve just got to live with it. Unfortunately, it was a bad hit.”
It’s a significant fine for Everett, and one that he plans to appeal.
The NFL’s Collective Bargaining Agreement does include a provision for the reduction of a fine upon appeal because it is “excessive compared to the player’s expected earnings for the season in question.” To meet this qualification, the fine has to exceed 25 percent of a player’s weekly salary for a first offense, or 50 percent of that amount for a second offense.
Sproles did not practice on Wednesday or Thursday and remains in the concussion protocol.
