Richard Sherman yelled at coaches because he didn’t want Seahawks to pass from 1-yard line again

Seattle cornerback Richard Sherman had it out with Seahawks coaches on the sideline during the Thursday Night Football win over the Rams because the team decided to throw from the 1-yard line.

The Seahawks had a first-and-goal from the 1-yard line, and the first down call was a passing play to tight end Jimmy Graham that was incomplete. Second down was a run play, with fullback Marcel Reece carrying it up the middle for no gain.

On third down, the play call was a pass to Doug Baldwin. It worked.

Sherman said he was justified in expressing his displeasure.

Sherman exchanged words with head coach Pete Carroll and offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell, who was just endorsed by Brett Favre for the Rams’ head coach vacancy.

With Carroll, Sherman said he was just “letting him know.” Bevell was a different story.

“Well, Bevell came up to me, so we’re not going to have that,” Sherman said.

If you’ll remember, the Seahawks famously decided to throw the ball from the 1-yard line in Super Bowl XLIX.

The Seahawks had Marshawn Lynch, so it would stand to reason that Seattle would go to Lynch and run him right up the middle for a score. Instead, Wilson attempted a quick slant to Ricardo Lockette, and it was intercepted by the Patriots.

Sherman doesn’t like throwing from the 1-yard line.

“I’d rather do what most teams would do — would make a conscientious decision and run the ball straight up the middle,” Sherman said.

Sherman has quite a reputation, but he doesn’t care what people think about him when they see him mixing it up with coaches on the sideline.

“I couldn’t care less,” Sherman said. “People think I’m a villain already. It’s not going to kill my perception.”

Sherman blew up at his defensive coordinator, Kris Richard, on the sideline after Julio Jones scored a touchdown against the Seahawks in Week 6.

The Seahawks beat the Rams 24-3 on Thursday and clinched the NFC West with the win.
