On Thursday night, the Seattle Seahawks handled the Los Angeles Rams pretty easily at home. They won by a final score of 24-3, and the game was never really in question.
Pete Carroll feels ‘very good’ after meeting with Richard Sherman over sideline flare-up
Sherman understandably didn’t want the Seahawks to throw on the 1-yard line.

The one thing that did raise eyebrows was a coaching decision made by the Seahawks. They had a first-and-goal from the 1-yard line, and the Seahawks ran pass plays on first and third downs, the latter of which was a touchdown to Doug Baldwin.
Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman voiced his displeasure to the Seahawks’ coaches for throwing from the 1-yard line. He yelled at both Pete Carroll and offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell.
“Well, Bevell came up to me, so we’re not going to have that,” Sherman said.
In case you’ve forgotten, the Seahawks threw the ball from the 1-yard line in Super Bowl XLIX, and Malcolm Butler intercepted it to give the Patriots the victory. Many (rightfully) felt that the Seahawks should have just handed the ball off to the bruising Marshawn Lynch.
“I’d rather do what most teams would do — would make a conscientious decision and run the ball straight up the middle,” Sherman said.
On Monday, Carroll was asked on 710 ESPN Seattle’s Brock and Salk show whether or not Sherman’s behavior could be construed as insubordination:
“I think if we weren’t able to come back from that, I think so. I think it would depend on how the meeting went. It went very well, and it was very clear and how I know the guy I’m talking to. I know him as well as you can know a guy. I know how he feels about it, and I’m fine about what happened. That doesn’t mean that it was OK. That doesn’t mean that it isn’t something that needed to be addressed. He was the only guy who was in my office this morning. So we went right after it, and I was going to make my decision on how to move forward based on what happened and how we communicated. And I feel very good about it.”
Carroll said that they spoke for an hour. “I love Richard. I just flat-out love the dude, and I’ve been with him through so much and watched him grow and do so many unbelievable things,” Carroll said.
“We made it through it. He knows that wasn’t right. He’s just so fiery, and we’ve seen him before. He’ll speak for himself on that. But I feel very good about where he is right now. We’re going to be all right.”
Sherman’s always been the outspoken type, not afraid to say what’s on his mind. Carroll has always been able to rally his players, and get the most out of them. It appears if this was going to happen for one team and they get through it, it’s the Seahawks.
