Jameis Winston earns stupid penalty for head-butting Cowboys defender

It wasn’t the best idea, especially when the Buccaneers were in position to score.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers had a first-and-goal from the 8-yard line on Sunday Night Football against the Dallas Cowboys, and quarterback Jameis Winston got hit with a 15-yard penalty for head-butting a Cowboys defender.

Winston comes behind Cowboys linebacker Justin Durant and deliberately head-butts him. It was detrimental to his team, and it’s not the type of thing officials are ever going to let go. Of course, Winston got hit with an unnecessary roughness penalty.

The play before the head-butt was a Doug Martin carry that resulted in a loss of five yards for Tampa. Winston’s penalty moved the Buccaneers back to the 28-yard line.

The Bucs ended up settling for a Roberto Aguayo field goal to cap off the drive, and Tampa Bay trails the Cowboys 17-13.
