New York Jets head coach Todd Bowles, who was admitted to the hospital late Friday afternoon after suffering from an undisclosed illness, will coach against the Patriots. The team announced Saturday morning that he rejoined the Jets Saturday morning.
Jets coach Todd Bowles hospitalized, but will coach against the Patriots on Saturday
Bowles will be on the sideline a day after his health scare.

The head coach was in stable condition Friday evening, but did not travel with the team in New England for a Saturday game against the Patriots. The Jets said the coach’s status for the Christmas Eve matchup hadn’t yet been determined. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Bowles was hoping to make the trip Saturday, but the decision would be up to his doctor.
Bowles was ultimately able to make the trip. If he hadn’t been, assistant head coach Mike Caldwell would have taken his place in the interim.
Caldwell previously served as a linebackers coach for the Philadelphia Eagles and Arizona Cardinals before following Bowles to New York where he is assistant head coach and inside linebackers coach.
At 4-10, the Jets are eliminated from the postseason but can still put a dent in the Patriots’ road to the Super Bowl with a win.
