Fantasy owners know what’s at stake at this point of the season, and when the Chiefs take on the Broncos, there are lots of volatile options that won’t sit well in the nervous stomachs of those competing for fantasy league championships. Let’s take a look at the options for one of Sunday’s games:
Fantasy football advice, Week 16: Who to start/sit for Denver Broncos vs. Kansas City Chiefs
Dan Ciarrocchi reviews who should be in fantasy lineups or on benches for a Week 16 AFC West showdown.
Denver Broncos
Start ‘em
There isn’t much to like about a Broncos offense that just scored three points against the Patriots and will now have to do battle with a tough division rival. While Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders provide decent weekly floors, it’s the lack of scoring touchdowns that has hurt the fabulous receiving duo. Even against a middling Chiefs pass defense, Sanders and Thomas remain the only Broncos starters worthy of slots in fantasy lineups.
Sit ‘em
Trevor Siemian, and his backfield tandem of Justin Forsett and Devontae Booker, aren’t worth fantasy consideration except in desperate situations. Among fantasy owners in the championship, there won’t be many desperate circumstances.
Kansas City Chiefs
Start ‘em
For all the valid praise the Broncos defense has gotten, it remains vulnerable to a strong ground game. That makes Spencer Ware a capable RB2 option in a positive matchup, but fantasy owners are well aware that the Chiefs haven’t had much of a running game in recent weeks with a banged-up offensive line. Despite that, Ware garners the usage to make him a decent RB2, while his teammate Travis Kelce remains an elite TE1 even against the Broncos’ imposing pass defense. Tyreek Hill, who is a threat to score from anywhere on the field, can also be in play as a boom-or-bust flex option.
Sit ‘em
Alex Smith and Jeremy Maclin’s matchups are far too discouraging for fantasy owners to want any part of during championship week. They can remain on the bench in a game that likely won’t yield many fantasy points.
