Undrafted third-year wide receiver Adam Thielen has been a pleasant surprise for the Minnesota Vikings in 2016, but he hasn’t taken over a game quite like his start to a Week 16 game against the Green Bay Packers.
Vikings WR Adam Thielen is going off against the Packers
Adam Thielen already has a career-best stat line and it’s not even halftime.
By halfway through the second quarter, Thielen had five receptions for 71 yards, then he doubled his total with a 71-yard touchdown grab down the right sideline.
The touchdown is the first pass play of more than 50 yards for Sam Bradford since he joined the Vikings, and Thielen added insult to injury for Packers fans by performing a Lambeau Leap.
Things at Lambeau Field aren’t going very well for the Vikings otherwise, though. Aaron Rodgers racked up three touchdowns in the first half, and Minnesota had a turnover on one of the worst snaps possible.
Before Sunday, Thielen’s best game of the season was in Week 5, when he caught seven passes for 127 yards and a touchdown. He eclipsed that total in the first half against the Packers. In his first two seasons with the Vikings, Thielen caught just 20 passes combined.
