Tom Brady throws a lot of touchdown passes every season. He came into Saturday’s game against the Jets with 22 of them this season in 10 games. This is what he does.
Tom Brady threw a TD to Matt Lengel, and you might be wondering who that is
We all are!

His second touchdown pass against the Jets went to Matt Lengel, which is something Brady hadn’t done before. Not only was it Lengel’s first career touchdown reception, it was also his first career catch of any kind.
Lengel is in for Rob Gronkowski. He made his first start against the San Francisco 49ers, before the extent of Gronk’s injury was known.
His brother was also understandably excited:
You’ve probably never heard of him before that reception. He was an undrafted tight end out of Eastern Kentucky in 2015. He spent that season on the Bengals’ practice squad, and the Patriots signed him on Nov. 2 after they released Clay Harbor and traded A.J. Derby.
This is his second stint in New England. He was initially enrolled at Northeastern University in 2009, where he redshirted. The university ended its football program after that season, forcing him to transfer to EKU.
He questioned his football future during the transition.
“My initial thought process was, ‘Am I ever going to play football again?’ I had just been redshirted and only had one full ride coming out of college, so who’s going to want me now?” Lengel told ESPN. “I thought I’d be off the radar for everybody.”
It appears things have turned out pretty well for him.
