Sheldon Richardson said teammate Brandon Marshall should be embarrassed by Jets’ 41-3 loss to Patriots

It’s not the first time these teammates have been at odds.

There’s no love lost between New York Jets wide receiver Brandon Marshall and his teammate, defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson. Following the Jets’ 41-3 loss to the New England Patriots, Richardson said Marshall “should be embarrassed” about the performance.

Richardson followed that statement up by saying there was no specific reason for his comment about Marshall.

“He just should be,” Richardson said, according to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News.

Marshall finished the loss to the Patriots with two receptions for 28 yards.

This isn’t the first time this season Richardson has made headlines. Prior to the Jets’ Week 15 loss against the Miami Dolphins, Richardson was captured on Snapchat saying, “F--- this game.” Head coach Todd Bowles was not impressed.

”I was just made aware of it and me and Sheldon will have a conversation very soon,” said Bowles. “We don’t condone any of that and we’re going to have a discussion and take care of it.”

Marshall wasn’t particularly supportive of Richardson’s Snapchat fiasco, either.

“As coach said, it’s unacceptable, and Sheldon knows that,” Marshall said, according to New Jersey Advance Media’s Connor Hughes. “We all make mistakes. I’ve made mistakes in the past. I continue to make mistakes. You just have to learn from it.”

Marshall and Richardson have been at odds for some time. The two were embroiled in a loud disagreement in the Jets’ locker room after the team’s loss to the Kansas City Chiefs back in Week 3.

“I took care of it right there,” Bowles said, via USA Today’s Mike Coppinger. “I addressed the team and I addressed the two guys. It will not happen again.”

Richardson served a suspension for the first game of the season after being arrested for street racing at speeds up to 143 miles per hour last summer. Richardson also was benched for the first quarter of the Jets’ Week 9 loss to the Dolphins, reportedly for missing team meetings.
