Derek Carr suffers broken fibula against the Colts

The Raiders’ MVP candidate will have surgery tomorrow and is out indefinitely.

The Oakland Raiders beat the Indianapolis Colts in Oakland, but the Raiders may have suffered a great loss during the game, as Derek Carr went down with an injury early in the fourth quarter.

Following the game, head coach Jack Del Rio confirmed that Carr suffered a broken fibula. “Derek had a break of his fibula that will require surgery. We’ll try to get it done tomorrow, so he’ll be out indefinitely.”

Carr was sacked by Trent Cole and held his leg while clearly in pain and yelling as he was on the ground. His foot appeared to be planted in the ground, while the rest of his body twisted during a tackle.

When trainers came to his aid, it appeared that Carr said “it’s broke” about his leg.

The Raiders’ quarterback would be helped off of the field, and Matt McGloin was put in the game for the Raiders.

The team took off his shoe, and brought out the cart, and would take him to the hospital:

Del Rio said after the game, “It was a good win, but a tough setback to have our quarterback go down like that.”

“He knows there’s a lot of love for him, and he’ll heal, and be ready to rejoin us at some point,” Del Rio said. “Until then, we’ll just love him up, encourage him, stay strong.”

It’s a huge blow for a team that has rolled to a 12-3 record and looks to have a legitimate opportunity to make some noise in the postseason.
