The Kansas City Chiefs came into Sunday night’s Christmas matchup with the Broncos already locked into the postseason, but still put up an effort that would have led you to believe otherwise in a 33-10 win.
Broncos vs. Chiefs 2016 final score: Kansas City ends Denver’s playoff hopes in 33-10 win
A pair of big plays made things easy for the Kansas City offense.

After Denver’s first possession ended in a punt, the Chiefs went on a mostly consistent drive that went for 77 yards, and ended in an Alex Smith 10-yard touchdown rush. Little did we know they were just getting started.
A second consecutive Denver punt led to a relatively short Kansas City drive, and it wasn’t because it had a similar result to the Broncos. On the fourth play of the drive, Tyreek Hill took a handoff from Smith, and blew past everybody for a 70-yard touchdown.
The Chiefs appeared to be slowing down, after Smith threw an interception that led to a Justin Forsett rushing touchdown.
Travis Kelce had other plans, though. With the first quarter winding down, Smith found Kelce on a screen pass, and he took it 80 yards for a touchdown.
Outside of a Brandon McManus field goal midway through the second quarter, that’s all we saw scoring wise in the first half, with the Chiefs leading 21-10. That’s partially because the Broncos tried a fake field goal attempt rather than tacking on another three points, and it went rather poorly.
The second half started off with four consecutive punts, and it appeared that we might have been done with scoring, or anything exciting in general. Cairo Santos extended the Chiefs’ lead to 24-10, and on the following drive, Santos would make yet another field goal to make it a three-score game at 27-10.
If there was any hope left for the Broncos, it was punched out by Daniel Sorensen when he got his hands on a Devontae Booker carry.
Upon getting the ball back, the Chiefs had one of the best touchdowns you’ll see all season.
Andy Reid put in Dontari Poe at quarterback, and he threw a pop pass to tight end Demetrius Harris. The execution was perfect, with Poe selling the draw, and Harris trickling out for the easy score.
That put the score at 33-10, and undoubtedly sent everybody at Arrowhead home happy that stayed to see the touchdown.
The win puts the Chiefs at 11-4, as they continue to look great heading into the postseason.
The loss eliminates the Denver Broncos, as they move to 8-7 on the season.
