UPDATE: Tom Brady is playing. Jadeveon Clowney is not. We’ve got the latest news on each players’ status for Sunday updated below.
Tom Brady, Michael Crabtree and the NFL’s most impactful injuries for Week 13
The playoffs are coming, and teams are missing key players.

A.J. Green is still out for the Cincinnati Bengals. The Denver Broncos will be starting rookie Paxton Lynch this week, with Trevor Siemian sidelined due to a foot injury.
The Miami Dolphins still will be without center Mike Pouncey, who is dealing with a hip injury. Luckily for them, they’re expecting offensive linemen Branden Albert and Laremy Tunsil in the lineup as they go for their seventh consecutive win on Sunday against the Ravens.
The Oakland Raiders are placing cornerback D.J. Hayden on injured reserve because of an injured hamstring, losing a key piece in their defensive backfield.
The New England Patriots also lost a huge weapon for the year after tight end Rob Gronkowski underwent back surgery for the third time in his football career.
For the Carolina Panthers, Luke Kuechly also will miss yet another game due to his concussion.
While we know those players definitely won’t play this week, other big names are still up in the air. Here’s the latest on the most impactful injuries for Week 13 in the NFL.
1) Justin Houston vs. Falcons
Houston made a big return this past week when he had a dominating performance against the Denver Broncos. His season debut was in Week 11 against the Bucs, but he made a statement the next week with three sacks and 10 tackles against the Broncos.
Houston’s been dealing with a shoulder injury that could keep him out Sunday. The Falcons boast one of the NFL’s best offenses, which ranks third in the league in total yards.
Status: He’s active.
2) Tom Brady vs. Rams
Brady’s been listed as questionable this week with a knee injury. There’s a slew of Patriots on the injury report this week, but Brady’s the only one who’s a potential MVP:
The Patriots are playing the Rams, who have been a mess all season. Even in Brady’s absence, the team went 3-1, so it wouldn’t be a huge deal if they had to turn to Jimmy Garoppolo. And it’s the Rams.
Status: He’s playing.
3) Jadeveon Clowney & Brian Cushing vs. Packers
Clowney and Cushing will have important roles on Sunday. The Texans go up against the Packers and Aaron Rodgers, who looked like his old MVP self this past Monday night against the Eagles.
Clowney is dealing with injuries to his elbow and wrist, while Cushing is nursing a back injury. The Texans typically don’t put a whole lot of pressure on teams on the offensive side, so to have their defense at full strength at all times is important for them as they make a playoff push.
Status: Clowney’s out, but Cushing is in.
4) T.J. Lang vs. Texans
Lang is one of the Packers’ best offensive linemen and has some of the best tweets, too. He’s suffering from a left ankle injury that’s kept him from the past two games, and his status for Sunday isn’t looking great.
If Clowney and Cushing are able to go for the Texans, Rodgers could have a tough time staying upright with Lang sidelined. The Packers really need a win to stay in the NFC North race and can’t really afford to lose any more games along the way.
Status: He’s out.
5) Tavon Austin vs. Patriots
Austin is easily one of the best weapons the Rams have on offense next to Todd Gurley, and with rookie Jared Goff playing quarterback, you’d like to have all of the best possible weapons at his disposal.
It’s not a great sign that Austin didn’t practice all week. They’ll have to hope the defense gives them something to work with as the Rams go up against one of the league’s best.
Status: He’s out.
6) Mark Ingram vs. Lions
The Saints are trying to stay in the NFC playoff picture, and they’ll have a big challenge in front of them when they face the Detroit Lions on Sunday. The Lions have won three straight, and the Saints’ high-flying offense will need one of its key pieces in Mark Ingram.
Ingram’s got a toe injury that has him questionable for this week.
“I just had my toe, it’s just a little sore ... it was a little sore,” Ingram told ESPN’s Mike Triplett. “So I’ve just been getting treatment on it during the week. I felt good today, so we’ll see.”
Status: He’ll play.
7) Jordan Matthews vs. Bengals
Matthews suffered an ankle injury last week against the Packers. He left the field, returned, and then had to ultimately leave the game for good (though, it was hardly the strangest injury or sight we saw in the game).
That same ankle is going to keep his status for this week up in the air, which is unfortunate for a team that is pretty thin at the wide receiver position. He didn’t practice on Friday, which isn’t a good sign for the Eagles.
Status: He won’t play.
8) Marvin Jones vs. Saints
Jones has been nursing a thigh injury, and in the past four weeks he hasn’t quite been the player that he was in the beginning of the season.
Jones started off the season as the league’s leading receiver for about the first month or so, but since then has seen his targets and production fall off. The Lions will need the early season version of Jones to show up against the Saints, whose offense is first in the NFL.
Status: Inactive.
9) Michael Crabtree & Latavius Murray vs. Bills
Crabtree and Murray were limited all week, both with ankle injuries. The two largely help the Raiders offense move, and the Bills are coming off two consecutive wins.
A win would help the Raiders (at the very worst) stay even with the New England Patriots for the lead in the AFC, as well as keep their distance from both the Broncos and the Chiefs.
Status: Both are playing.
10) Leonard Floyd vs. 49ers
Floyd was limited in practice all week because of a concussion he suffered in Week 11 against the New York Giants. The injury appeared to be much more severe at first, but the limitations were more precautionary than anything.
Floyd has looked like a promising rookie for the Bears, who have been decimated by injuries this season and have lost six of their past seven games. To have him back against the 49ers and Colin Kaepernick, who is starting to play better, would be big for John Fox’s team.
Status: He’s active.
