The Denver Broncos announced they have claimed running back Justin Forsett off of waivers from the Detroit Lions. To clear roster space for the move, the Broncos placed Kapri Bibbs on injured reserve. Forsett will reunite with his former offensive coordinator, Gary Kubiak, who is now the head coach in Denver.
Justin Forsett to reunite with Gary Kubiak in Denver
The Broncos claimed Forsett off waivers from the Lions.

Forsett was waived by the Baltimore Ravens during roster cuts, but he was re-signed by the team two days later. The Ravens waived Forsett again in early October after he was surpassed on the depth chart by Terrance West. The Detroit Lions signed Forsett shortly after he was released by the Ravens, and waived him on Dec. 3.
Now Forsett heads to a Broncos team that could use some help bolstering its run game. Denver currently ranks No. 23 in the NFL for rushing yards per game, and the Broncos are tied for 17th in the league for rushing touchdowns this season with nine.
Forsett seems eager for the opportunity.
Kubiak was the offensive coordinator for the Ravens during the 2014 season, which was Forsett’s most successful year in his career to date. He finished with 1,266 yards and eight touchdowns on 235 carries.
Forsett will have an opportunity to establish himself as a contributor in Denver’s backfield. Devontae Booker, the Broncos’ leading rusher, has averaged just 2.8 yards per carry over his past five games. Bibbs, who has 129 rushing yards on 29 carries this season, landed on injured reserve with a high ankle sprain.
The Broncos won Super Bowl 50 on the strength of their defense, but the offensive weaknesses have been too much for a stout defensive effort to overcome this season. Trevor Siemian and Paxton Lynch have both had struggles at quarterback, and the passing offense is ranked 24th in the league. A stronger rushing effort would also help open things up for the young quarterbacks in the passing game.
Considering Forsett’s familiarity with and productivity in Kubiak’s scheme in 2014, signing with Denver may be the perfect opportunity for him to get back to form.
