Colts vs. Jets 2016 results: Indianapolis wins in dominating fashion over New York, 41-10

The Jets had a nightmare showing in primetime.

The Indianapolis Colts raced away with a 41-10 win over the New York Jets on the road on Monday Night Football.

The Colts wasted no time in getting a lead on the Jets after fielding a punt as a result of a three-and-out. Their first drive was a quick, three-and-a-half minute drive that was capped off with a Dwayne Allen touchdown reception. After yet another three-and-out, the Colts took over on offense again.

The second drive of the night for Chuck Pagano’s team resulted in another touchdown. This drive was even quicker than the first, lasting just over a minute and a half, with four plays that went 69 yards. Again, the finishing touch on the drive was a touchdown from Luck to Allen.

After forcing the Colts to punt on their next possession and getting a field goal, it appeared the Jets might have stopped the bleeding, but Indianapolis was just getting started.

The Colts matched the field goal made by the Jets to make it a 17-3 game midway through the second quarter. Yet another three-and-out gave the Colts the ball back, and resulted in a drive that went over five minutes. Allen and Luck connected for a third touchdown, and the Colts had a 24-3 lead going into the half.

The Jets were rained on with boos as they went into the locker room.

The first possession the Colts had in the second half was to the same beat of the first half. They executed an 11 play, 75-yard drive that concluded with a Donte Moncrief touchdown reception.

On their first possession in the second half, Todd Bowles decided that Bryce Petty would enter the game in place of Ryan Fitzpatrick, who had completed 5-of-12 passes for 81 yards and an interception. Petty got the Jets a pair of first downs before ultimately having to punt. A field goal on their next drive gave the Colts a 34-3 lead.

Two plays were all the Jets would get on their next drive, as Petty was intercepted by Mike Adams, which was returned for 56 yards to their own 6-yard line. Robert Turbin scored first Colts rushing touchdown of the night to make it a 41-3 blowout right at the start of the fourth quarter.

A bright spot for the Jets was that Petty was able to lead the team down for one touchdown drive, where he completed a 40-yard pass to Robby Anderson to make it 41-10.

Scott Tolzien came in at quarterback for the Colts at the beginning of the fourth quarter, effectively ending Luck’s night. Luck finished 22-for-28 passing with 278 yards and four touchdowns.

The loss puts the Jets at 3-9 on the year, and will certainly increase the rumblings surrounding the job of head coach Todd Bowles.

For Indianapolis, the Colts are 6-6, and now have the same record as the Texans and Titans atop the AFC South with four weeks to go in the NFL regular season. It should be an exciting race down the stretch.
