The Golden State Warriors, who set an NBA record for wins in a single season, staved off elimination with a hard-fought home win Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals over the Thunder. Golden State will have to do the same on Saturday in Game 6 to keep their season alive.
The Warriors get one back

Good morning. Let’s basketball.
YOU KNOW I’M NOT DEAD: The Warriors aren’t ready to call it a season just yet. In a raucous, nerve-rattling affair in Oakland, Golden State pulled out a 120-111 victory as Stephen Curry scored 31, Andrew Bogut was a major factor and Draymond Green seemed to climb out from under a rock. (Curry was really good on offense.) The Warriors bench was wonderful, too, with Mo Speights doing work. Kevin Durant had 40 for the Thunder, who battled to the very end. The good news for OKC is they can try again in Game 6 on Saturday back at home.

3 things from the Warriors’ 120-111 win over OKC

Kelley L Cox-USA TODAY SportsThe Warriors had to start better than the previous two blowouts in Games 3 and 4, not only to avoid falling behind early, but to prove to themselves that they weren’t the team that showed up in Oklahoma City. They did that, going up 22-12 late in the first quarter, a quick double-digit advantage, before ending the quarter with a 25-21 advantage.
Game 6 will be played on Saturday at 9 p.m. Eastern, where the Thunder will look to use home court advantage to end the 73-win Warriors way sooner than anyone expected.
