Harold Lederman gave Alvarez the third round, which is certainly arguable. Scores on social media seem split. We gave it to Khan, who so far has boxed pretty beautifully.
Canelo vs. Khan 2016 results: Fight getting closer, Canelo finding range
Amir Khan has boxed well so far, but Canelo Alvarez may have gotten going in the third round.
Khan with a good right hand up top, Canelo with a body shot counter. One of his best punches so far, a terrific shot with the right hand. Left to the body from Alvarez. He’s getting more in the range he wants. Khan back to the jab, tripling it up. Double jab from Canelo, then a right hand that misses, and Khan counters with a couple of quick shots.
Amir misses a wild right hand, but the two tie up. Canelo wanted to fire back there, but Khan was too close and was able to grab on. Khan continuing to move well, but Canelo’s pressure is working better this round for sure, cutting off the ring a bit better. And he’s closer to the range he wants. Closer round, but we still shade just a bit to Amir Khan.
SB Nation scores the round 10-9 for Amir Khan, 40-36 Amir Khan
