While there is no Triple Crown in play due to separate winners in both the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness, Saturday's Belmont Stakes still represents one of the more grueling tests in horse racing. And you can stream the Belmont Stakes live online with NBC Sports Live Extra.
Belmont Stakes 2016 live stream: How to watch Test of the Champion online
The 148th running of the Belmont Stakes is set for Saturday and the full race will be available live online.

While there will be a full day of undercard races, the main event’s post time is scheduled for 6:37 p.m. ET. The race will be broadcast on NBC, with their coverage of the day’s festivities beginning at 5 p.m.
While none of the 13-horse field will secure the kind of immortality that American Pharoah gained when he claimed the Triple Crown a year ago, there’s plenty of prestige on the line in the 148th running of the 1-1/2 mile Test of Champions. But there won’t be a duel between Nyquist (winner of the Kentucky Derby) and Exaggerator (winner of the Preakness) as the former horse dropped out of the race with a fever.
Exaggerator is still among those running, and is still favored to grab the third jewel of the Triple Crown despite the addition of a surprise 13th horse, Gettysburg, earlier in the week. Exaggerator is not a prohibitive favorite and outright domination isn’t really expected, but the lines have not shifted toward any of the other horses expected to push him for the win.
That includes horses like Destin, Cherry Wine, Suddenbreakingnews and Stradivari. They have all consistently been among the top five horses in the odds through the pre-race buildup, but none have passed Exaggerator, though given the nature of a couple of them -- Destin and Stradivari, notably -- they should start the race with a healthy lead over Exaggerator.
The two are notable front-runners and pace-setters, though that could also go to Gettysburg, the late entrant with 30-1 odds in the race at the time of writing. Exaggerator came close to winning the Derby earlier in the year, closing the distance on Nyquist hard, but ultimately ran out of track in his pursuit. Exaggerator is a closer, but has never run a race as long as the Belmont.
It should be an exciting race, especially if the weather forecasts are correct. The forecasts indicate poor conditions on the track, something that was also prominent for the Preakness and made for a grueling race.
