The undercard for the 2016 Belmont Stakes is officially in the books, capped off by the Grade I Metropolitan Handicap and the Grade I Manhattan. The two biggest undercard races on the day did not disappoint, though the former was an absolute blowout in favor of Frosted.
Belmont Stakes 2016: Frosted takes Met Mile by 14 lengths, Flintshire wins Manhattan
Frosted and Flintshire came out on top in the two biggest undercard races prior to the Belmont Stakes on Saturday.

The one-mile race, popularly known as the Met Mile, was always expected to go to Frosted, who was ahead in the odds throughout the pre-race buildup. But Noble Bird, who cruised to an 11-length victory in the Pimlico Special just three weeks ago, was expected to push the horse for the lead.
That didn’t happen, and Frosted wound up taking a massive 14-length win. Anchor Down came up next, then Upstart and then Marking. Noble Bird was nowhere to be found and it didn’t even look like a difficult run for Frosted, who was barely pushed by jockey Joel Rosario.
In the Manhattan, Flintshire was favored to win it, and win it the horse did. The horse entered this race with over $7.5 million in career winnings and has now broken the $8 million mark with a 2 and 1/2 length win. Flintshire ran the last quarter in under 22 seconds, a blistering pace to win the $1 million Manhattan.
