Olympics 2016: US diving trials time, TV schedule and live stream for Saturday
The 2016 US Olympic Diving Trials will get underway on Saturday, as both men and women compete in synchronized events.

These trials, overseen by the US Olympic Committee and run by USA Diving, are held in Indianapolis and feature both men and women’s teams. Diving is a big sport for the United States, as the country holds a massive 49 gold medals, 42 silver medals and 44 bronze medals. That’s 135 total medals in diving alone, with the next country being China, who boast 59 total tiles.
Recent years haven’t been as kind to the United States, however. China has been gaining ground in the sport, earning six of the eight diving gold medals given out in London in 2012. One American, David Boudia, took gold in the 10-meter platform, and one Russian, Ilya Zakharov took one in the 3-meter springboard.
On Saturday, the men’s synchronized 3-meter preliminaries and semifinals, as well as women’s synchronized 10-meter preliminaries and semifinals, will be held. Some notable Americans participating in diving trials this weekend include Boudia, Steele Johnson, and Kristian Ipsen.
Boudia was the only American to capture gold in diving for the United States in 2012. He also grabbed a bronze alongside Nicholas McCrory in the synchronized 10-meter platform. Ipsen and Troy Dumais took a bronze in the synchronized 3-meter springboard while the pairing of Kelci Bryant and Abigail Johnston took silver in the synchronized 3-meter springboard. Johnston will be among those competing this year as well.
The action begins with the preliminaries at 11 a.m. ET, with the semifinals to come in the evening, starting at 8 p.m. NBCSN will have television coverage of the semifinals, beginning at 8 p.m. and running through 10 p.m. A live stream will be available online via NBC Sports.
