Soccer player sent off for farting in referee’s general direction

A Swedish soccer player got sent off because of his farting, but he wants you to know he did NOT fart in his hand and throw it at the referee. Yes, this is all very real.

Adam Lindin Ljungkvist, a left back reserve for Järna SK got a second yellow card late in a game against Pershagen SK ... for farting. The referee declared his butt wind to be “deliberate provocation” and “unsportsmanlike behavior.” Which the player vehemently denies.

“I had a bad stomach, so I simply let go,” the 25-year-old told Länstidningen Södertälje. “Then I received two yellow cards and then red. Yes, I was shocked, it’s the strangest thing I have ever experienced in football.

The opposing team heard the fart “loud and clear” according to one player. It was a bad time to fart. Ljungkvist wants people to know it was a regular fart and not a weaponized fart.

“I asked the referee, ‘What, am I not allowed to break wind a little?’ ‘No,’ he replied … I don’t get it but maybe he thought I farted in my hand and threw the fart at him. But I did not.”

The two did not see eye-to-eye over the fart.

“To provoke anyone with a fart is not particularly smart or normal. It’s nonsense – I just broke wind and got a red card. I spoke to the referee afterwards, I was annoyed, but there were no bad words. I just said he was a buffoon.”

Let this be a lesson to soccer players everywhere: Save your farts for private moments.
