This year’s United States Olympic trials have been ongoing for some time, but things really kick into high gear when men’s gymnastics joins the sport of diving on the calendar for trial events. USA Diving has been holding trials since June 18 and will wrap up all of their trials on Sunday.
Olympic trials 2016 schedule: Men’s gymnastics, diving on tap for Thursday
Two Olympic trials events will be held on Thursday, in both diving and men’s gymnastics.

On Thursday, finals from the diving trials will be held in the men’s synchronized 10-meter platform event, where David Boudia, a gold medal winner in the 2012 London Olympics, is currently in the lead with partner Steele Johnson. Boudia was the lone competitor to take home gold for US Diving in London, but there is a ton of hype around him and his partner in the synchronized events.
Also on tap will be the beginning of the men’s gymnastics trials. The event will take place on two days -- Thursday and Saturday -- and both days will feature all six of the gymnastics events that take place in the Olympics. Competitors will do the floor exercise, pommel horse, still rings, vault, parallel bars and horizontal bar on Thursday before doing them all again on Saturday to try and place highly.
The diving trials are up first, getting underway at 7 p.m. ET. They will run through 8:30 p.m., while men’s gymnastics will run from 8 p.m. through 11 p.m. NBCSN will carry coverage of the diving trials and will pick up gymnastics coverage at 8:30. A live stream will be available for both events via NBC Sports, beginning at their respective times.
