Danell Leyva, Jake Dalton, Sam Mikulak and John Orozco were among the Olympians representing the United States back in 2012, and they are competing for the honor to do so again in Rio this summer. All four are among the competitors for Thursday’s men’s gymnastics Olympic trials, held in St. Louis.

The men’s gymnastics Olympic trials will be available online via NBC Sports.

The trials, which include a day filled with all six events on Thursday and then another full day of the same events on Saturday, are one of two major tournaments for competitors to qualify for the US Olympic Team. The six men’s gymnastics events in this year’s Olympics are floor exercise, pommel horse, still rings, vault, parallel bars and horizontal bar. There are also all-round medals awarded based on performance in all of those events.
On Thursday, the former Olympians named above will be competing, alongside 2012 alternates Chris Brooks, Alex Naddour and Steven Legendre. There will be several others, including nine members of the US national team.
Of the returning Olympians, only Leyva managed to get a medal for the United States last time around. He scored an all-around bronze medal, though no one country dominated the medal count that year.
The event will begin at 8 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on NBCSN, but the television coverage doesn’t get underway until 8:30 p.m. A live stream of the whole event will be available via NBC Sports, which is expected to run about two hours. Saturday’s event will begin at the same time in the evening.
