Troy Dumais has missed out on making his fifth trip to the Olympic Games, losing out in the finals of the men’s individual 3-meter springboard event on Saturday. The Olympic trials are ongoing in Indianapolis, and Saturday featured the aforementioned event alongside the women’s individual 10-meter platform event. Dumais was trying to make history by qualifying for the Olympics once again, but he lost out on Saturday.
Olympic diving trials 2016 results: Kristian Ipsen, Michael Hixon qualify in 3-meter springboard
Ipsen and Hixon will represent the United States in Rio later this summer.

The two individual spots went to Kristian Ipsen and Michael Hixon, who placed first and second in the finals, respectively. Ipsen won the event with 1,452.75 points throughout preliminaries, semifinals and the finals. Hixon came in second with 1,385.95 points.
Hixon actually had a scare when he badly missed a reverse three and a half, earning under 20 points for the dive, but he recovered with a forward four and a half to score 91.20 points. Hixon had already qualified for the Rio Olympics in the 3-meter springboard synchronized event, with Sam Dorman as his partner. They beat out the team of Ipsen and Dumais for the honor.
In the women’s event, Jessica Parratto and Katrina Young will represent the United States in the 10-meter platform by winning in the finals on Saturday. Parratto had a bad dive in the fourth round, but recovered nicely. That was always where Young made her move, going from fourth place to pass up both Amy Cozad and Murphy Bromberg to take the second Olympic spot.
Sunday will feature the much-anticipated men’s individual 10-meter platform event. That will see David Boudia, Steele Johnson and David Dinsmore compete for two spots. Boudia was the lone American to score a gold medal in diving for the 2012 London Olympics.
