Olympics swimming trials 2016 live stream: How to watch Team USA tryouts online

Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte will get another chance at competing with one another in the 200-meter individual medley finals at the USA Swimming Olympic trials on Friday.

Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte will both be in action for the men’s 200-meter individual medley finals on Friday at the USA Swimming Olympic trials in Omaha, Neb. Phelps, who has already qualified for the 2016 Rio Olympics in the 200-meter butterfly, is looking to lock up another individual berth, while Lochte is still trying to earn his first individual berth of 2016.

Lochte has already qualified in the 200-meter freestyle relay race, but the 200-meter individual medley is his last chance at qualifying as an individual after he came up short in some other events. Lochte has been competing with a strained groin, but many are looking for him to go head-to-head with Phelps, the most decorated United States Olympian of all time, on Friday evening. Those finals will be broadcast live on NBC beginning at 8 p.m. ET.

For women’s swimming, Katie Ledecky will be competing in the 100-meter freestyle finals. Ledecky has already qualified in both the 200- and 400-meter freestyle events and punched her ticket to Rio. She is looking at competing in the 50-, 100- and 800-meter freestyle events still. The 800-meter freestyle prelims and semifinals will take place on Friday as well.

Franklin has qualified for the 200-meter freestyle but came up short in the 100-meter backstroke and 100-meter freestyle. She will also be competing in the 200-meter backstroke prelims and semifinals on Friday.

Friday’s events begin at 11 a.m. ET with the first of three blocks of coverage. That first block will last about three hours and will be streamed online but will not be on TV. The second block, also containing prelims, will begin at 6 p.m. and run for two hours on NBCSN and via live stream. The third and final block will contain semifinals and finals and will run from 8 to 9:20 p.m. on NBC and via live stream.

The full slate of events includes the men’s 50-meter freestyle and 100-meter butterfly prelims and semifinals in addition to the 200-meter backstroke and 200-meter individual medley finals. On the women’s side, the 800-meter freestyle and 200-meter backstroke prelims and semifinals will go down, in addition to the 200-meter breaststroke and 100-meter freestyle finals.
