US Olympic swimming trials 2016: Time, TV schedule and events for Saturday

Here’s how to watch the penultimate day of the USA Swimming Olympic trials on Saturday.

Erich Schlegel-USA TODAY Sports

Michael Phelps, Katie Ledecky and Missy Franklin will all be in action at the USA Swimming Olympic Trials on Saturday. The trials, held to determine who will represent the United States in the upcoming 2016 Rio Olympics, have been running since June 26 and will finish on Sun., July 3.

Sunday’s final day of action will feature only the men’s 1,500-meter freestyle and women’s 50-meter freestyle finals. But Saturday has a full slate of events, with the gold medalists mentioned above trying to qualify in more events. All of them have already qualified, with Phelps doing so in the 200-meter butterfly. Franklin has qualified in the 200-meter freestyle, with Ledecky already qualifying in both the 200- and 400-meter freestyle events.

Phelps will be competing in the 100-meter butterfly finals on Saturday. Franklin will be participating in the 200-meter backstroke finals, though she already came up short in the 100-meter backstroke finals. Ledecky will be taking part in the 800-meter freestyle finals and the 50-meter freestyle prelims and semifinals.

Saturday’s events will be handled in three different blocks. The first, containing prelims, will begin at 11 a.m. ET and run through 2 p.m. It will not be broadcast on television. The second block begins at 5 p.m. and will run through 6:30 p.m. That block will be broadcast on NBCSN, as will the third block, beginning at 8 p.m. and running through 9:30 p.m.

All three blocks will be available for viewing online via NBC Sports. Those streams that run concurrently with broadcasts will be a simulcast, with links to them all below.
