Olympic trials 2016 schedule: Swimming, track and field on display Saturday

Swimming has two more days at the Olympic trials while track and field kicks into full swing on Saturday.

Rob Schumacher-USA TODAY Sports

Only two days remain for the USA Swimming Olympic Trials, while the US Track and Field Olympic Trials will continue through July 10. For the former, Saturday features some of the biggest events on the swimming calendar, and for the latter, things are just getting started with only a couple finals events.

For Track and Field, the women’s 10,000-meter race, discus throw and long jump finals will be on display. The 10,000-meter race and long jump finals will both be televised on NBC, with coverage beginning at 2 p.m. ET and running through 5 p.m. A live stream of those events will also be available. The men’s decathlon 400-meter will also be broadcast on TV, via NBCSN. Live streams will be available for that and the full decathlon on Saturday as well.

Links to the live streams are available below.

In the swimming trials, Michael Phelps, Katie Ledecky and Missy Franklin will all be in action. Phelps, the most decorated US Olympian of all time, has 18 gold medals and has already qualified in the 200-meter butterfly race and will try to qualify in the 100-meter iteration of the race on Saturday as well.

Ledecky, who already has two spots thanks to wins in the 200- and 400-meter freestyle events, will participate in the 800-meter freestyle finals and the 50-meter freestyle prelims and semifinals. Franklin has qualified in the 200-meter freestyle and will try to get in with the 200-meter backstroke finals on Saturday. She fell short in the 100-meter backstroke earlier in the tournament

Saturday’s swimming events will be available in three blocks of coverage. The first set of prelims will be available via live stream beginning at 11 a.m. and running for three hours. The second set will be available on NBCSN beginning at 5 p.m. and running through 6:30 p.m. The third will also be on NBCSN, running from 8 p.m. through 9:30 p.m. There will be no television coverage of the first block. The second and third blocks will also be live streamed via NBC Sports, with links below.
