If Thursday’s Tour de France time trial wasn’t hard enough — featuring an uncharacteristically tough climb — an S-bend just before the finish line has been throwing riders off their bikes. First was FDJ’s Jeremy Roy:

The road up to the finish line of Thursday’s time trial has been a menace to riders.
Then Iam Cycling’s Oliver Naesen nearly flew into the crowd, only to have his fall broken by a metal barrier.
Both riders were able to finish the stage, and recorded better times than most of the riders entering the day. They were two of the earliest starters on the stage, serving as a helpful warning to the rest of the riders: Sometimes it’s smart to go slow.
