Aussie Rules player breaks his own leg with kick mid-game

There’s no shortage of sports videos showing an athlete breaking their leg. You’ve seen them, we’ve seen them — they’re part of the sports consciousness. What happened to Mitch Wallis in the Australian Football League is something else entirely.

Wallis was attempting to kick the ball downfield midway though being tackled. That threw off his kick and instead of making contact with the ball, Wallis kicked the back of his own leg. It resulted in an injury that halted the game and sent him to the hospital.
