USA Track & Field Olympic trials: Time, TV schedule and events for Wednesday
Multiple former Olympians will take part in the hammer throw at the US Track and Field trials on Wednesday as they try to qualify for the 2016 Rio Olympics.
There will be no television coverage of the events. NBC Sports will start their first live stream at 4 p.m. and will run until 6:30 p.m. The men’s qualifying round gets started at 8 p.m., at which point another stream will start, and should run until about 10:30 p.m.
Former 2012 London Olympians A.G. Kruger and Kibwe Johnson will be returning to the event for the men. Kruger struggled in the qualifying round at the Olympics, finishing 25th in the group where only the top 12 advanced. Johnson was among the top 12, but in the finals he failed to medal and took home a ninth-place finish.
Two women from the London Games will also be in action at the trials on Wednesday: Amber Campbell and Amanda Bingson. Neither woman qualified for the finals at the Olympics, with Campbell just missing the cut at No. 13 overall and Bingson well down the list at No. 28 overall.
2015 NCAA Champion Heavin Warner will be one to watch for the women, along with DeAnna Price. In both the men’s and women’s qualifying rounds on Wednesday, the top nine finishers will advance to the finals, to be held directly after the qualifying.
