The United States’ women’s gymnastics team won the team all-around competition Tuesday, and it wasn’t close. With a score of 184.897, they finished more than eight points ahead of second-place Russia, a wide margin that solidified the Final Five as the true Dream Team of 2016.
Watch the ‘Final Five’ relive their gold medal ceremony for the 1st time
Team USA’s women’s gymnastics team sat down with Bob Costas and watched the gold medal ceremony for their team all-around win at the Rio Olympics.

All five gymnasts -- Simone Biles, Aly Raisman, Gabby Douglas, Laurie Hernandez and Madison Kocian -- met with Bob Costas in the NBC studio in Rio after the event. After they explained the origin of the “Final Five” moniker (it’s in honor of Martha Karolyi, who is retiring as the national team coordinator for USA Gymnastics), Costas had them watch the national anthem portion of the medal ceremony.
It was ... a little awkward. But also really cool. Some highlights:
- Raisman getting chills from watching the footage for the first time.
- Biles admitting that she tried to sing but was thrown off by the timing of the song.
- The whole crowd singing the Star-Spangled Banner.
The Final Five still have a lot of work to do with individual competitions forthcoming. With Tuesday’s performance, however, they have already cemented themselves as one of the best team’s in gymnastics history.
