Watch Kerri Walsh Jennings & April Ross advance to Round of 16

Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

Kerri Walsh Jennings and April Ross faced some adversity on Wednesday, even dropping their first set of these Olympics, but the women’s beach volleyball duo managed to hold off the Switzerland team of Isabelle Forrer and Anouk Verge-Depre in Rio.

The win improved Walsh Jennings and Ross to 3-0 in this Olympic tournament, atop Group C, and ensured their advancement to the Round on 16 on Friday.

The set dropped by Walsh Jennings was just her second set loss in Olympic play, after capturing three gold medals (2004, 2008, 2012) with former partner Misty May-Treanor.
