Pikachus, out of shape ladybugs invade the stands at Olympic rugby semifinals

The 2016 Summer Olympics are taking place either minutes from or on the Copacabana Beach, so it was easy to expect some skimpy outfits at the outdoor events. What was less expected, however, was a swarm of Pikachus.

The Pikachus were the highlight in the stands for Thursday’s rugby action, but the cadre of out of shape, scarcely clothed ladybugs took home a close second. Fortunately, the Pokemon enthusiasts avoided the temptation to wander onto the field in chase of yet another Rattata. Fiji and Great Britain advanced to the gold medal game of the first Olympic rugby competition since 1924.
