Everyone laughed at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers when they traded up in the second round to draft a kicker this year. But Florida State’s Roberto Aguayo was, as Bucs GM Jason Licht called him, a “weapon.”
Bucs’ 2nd-round kicker missed his 1st NFL kick
Roberto Aguayo never missed an extra point in college.

Aguayo connected on all 198 extra points attempts in college. He never missed from inside 40 yards (49-for-49) and he made 96.73 percent of his kicks, making him the most accurate kicker in college football history. He was so dominant — well, as dominant as a kicker can be — that he declared early for the draft.
So how did his first kick in the NFL go? Wellllllll ...
That’s right, the guy who never missed an extra point missed an extra point on his first attempt in the league. It’s only the preseason, so it doesn’t really count. But it also won’t help the Bucs fend off the “I told you so” crowd.
After the game, Aguayo told JoeBucsFan.com, “I had a little butterflies going out, but hey, that’s what preseason is for.” He must have gotten the nerves out of his system after the miss because he connected on his next kick, a 38-yard field goal in the second half of the Bucs’ 17-9 loss to the Eagles.
