Verniaiev managed an impressive 16.041 for his parallel bars routine.
When Leyva went up, he nailed his routine with a final score of 15.900, which put him in first place. Unfortunately for Leyva, he was unseated by Verniaiev, who put up a massive 16.041 for his routine to take the top spot. The next two were Manrique Larduet of Cuba and Ryohei Kato of Japan, but neither could unseat Verniaiev.
Belyavskiy earned a 15.783 for his routine.
Leyva was the only American man competing on the parallel bars, though he is also set to compete on the horizontal bar later on Tuesday. Teammate Sam Mikulak will also be competing on the horizontal bar. Mikulak took part in the floor exercise on Sunday, alongside Jake Dalton, but neither American man was able to earn a medal in the event.
Going into the final day of gymnastics, Alex Naddour was the only American man to earn a medal, having taken the bronze on the pommel horse.
American women Simone Biles, Laurie Hernandez and Madison Kocian did manage to earn individual medals, though. Biles took gold on vault and bronze on beam, and will compete in the floor exercise on Tuesday. Hernandez took the silver on beam and Kocian took the silver on the uneven bars. Aly Raisman will also be participating in the floor exercise with Biles on Tuesday.
