Claressa Shields returns to the ring, and a men’s welterweight champion will be crowned.

Giyasov hasn’t lost a round en route to a perfect record in Rio de Janeiro. The 23-year old boxer is making his presence felt on a national stage, and Wednesday’s gold medal match could be his coming-out party on a global scale. With any luck, he could follow 2012 champion Serik Sapayev’s career trajectory and wind up on his own stamp.
Elsewhere in the ring, women’s lightweight is down to its four semifinalists, but only two will advance to duke it out for a gold medal on Friday. In between, American breakout star Claressa Shields will step inside the ropes at middleweight with her sights set on a spot in the medal rounds. One win in Wednesday’s quarterfinals will guarantee her a spot on the podium, but that won’t be enough for a woman who wants to be a household name in the sport.
