Tom Brady misses Patriots preseason game after cutting himself with scissors

Luckily, he has about two months to heal.

First, Tom Brady wasn’t expected to play in the New England Patriots’ preseason game against the Chicago Bears. And then later, it was reported that he was expected to start after all.

So it was a bit of a surprise when Brady not only didn’t suit up, but that he left Gillette Stadium entirely before kickoff. Was Bill Belichick trying to play mind games or something?

Nope. Instead, the plan was for Brady to start, until he cut his right thumb with scissors before warmups.

Via Tom E. Curran of CSNNE.com:

Apparently, Brady was trying to pry something from the bottom of his cleat prior to taking the field and sustained the cut.

There’s no word on the severity of the injury, but luckily for Brady, he has about two months to heal. He can’t take the field during the regular season until Oct. 9, the first game after he serves his four-game DeflateGate suspension.

But we gotta say, maybe it’s time for some NFL players to pull a Billy Madison and go back to kindergarten. Caleb Sturgis already learned a valuable “always wear a helmet” lesson tonight. Now Brady is finding out it’s not a good idea to play with scissors.
