The rhythmic gymnastic individual finals will take place on Saturday, with the qualifier starting at 9:00 a.m. and the finals at 2:20 p.m.

Russia’s Margarita Mamun and Yana Kudryavtzeva are the favorites to compete for gold and silver medals, with both ranked No. 1 and 2 in the world. The third-ranked rhythmic gymnast in the world is another Russian, Aleksandra Soldatova, but since countries can only send two athletes per event, she will not compete in a similar situation as Gabby Douglas’ for Team USA in the all-around gymnastics competition.
In London, Russians Yevgeniya Kanayeva and Daria Dmitrieva took first and second place in the competition, and no Americans qualified for the final.
Laura Zeng will be the individual competitor for Team USA in the event in Rio.
