The 2016 Rio Summer Olympics have been mostly successful. There have been hiccups, and outside of competition there have been plenty of unflattering news stories. But in many cases things turned out better than expected -- like golf being a major success despite it getting the most heat prior to the start of the Games.

Here’s how you can watch the Olympics closing ceremony from Rio on NBC and online.
Like the opening ceremony, the closing ceremony will feature a musical event to celebrate the culture of the host nation, Brazil. It will also feature closing remarks from Thomas Bach, the International Olympic Committee president. It will also feature the handover of the Olympic flag from Rio mayor Eduardo Paes to Tokyo governor Yuriko Koike.
Tokyo, Japan is the host city of the 2020 Summer Olympics. The handover will happen just before the extinguishing of the Olympic flame.
Simone Biles, who won multiple gold medals for the United States, will carry the country’s flag during the ceremony. Michael Phelps carried the flag during the opening ceremonies. The opening ceremony was somewhat muted, with a reported one-tenth of the budget of London’s opening ceremony in 2012. The closing ceremony will likely be along the same lines, but will still be a celebration of Brazil’s culture and music.
The event will begin at 7 p.m. ET, but NBC will not carry it on television until an hour later. The live stream available via NBC Sports will also be delayed by an hour, and will only allow you to watch 30 minutes without logging into a cable or satellite TV provider.
