San Francisco 49ers’ wide receiver Bruce Ellington returned to practice Monday after missing a week of action with an ankle injury, according to The Sacramento Bee’s Matt Barrows. Ellington tweaked his ankle in the preseason opener. The 49ers’ top slot target also missed the second preseason game on Saturday, though he did run some deep routes in pregame warmups with No. 2 quarterback Colin Kaepernick. Ellington’s status for San Francisco’s matchup against Green Bay Friday is unknown.
Bruce Ellington returns to practice, fantasy stock steady
Bruce Ellington back from ankle injury. We look at fantasy implications.

Fantasy Update:
Ellington is emerging as the favorite target for starting QB Blaine Gabbert, despite battling minor injuries all camp. Unfortunately, Ellington’s health has been an issue his whole career. Still, if healthy, Ellington is expected to be the top option in the slot for the 49ers, a fairly busy role in the quick-pace Chip Kelly offense. Ellington is a good late-round receiver selection. He is also a good pick for PPR leagues considering he will likely be targeted frequently in the 49ers’ offense.
