Australian soccer player scores a game-winning goal from 40 meters away

Now this is a fantastic goal. On Tuesday, during stoppage time between the Green Gully and Central Coast Mariners FFA Cup match, Gully’s Liam Boland scored a goal from 40 meters away. There was barely anyone there to contest it, especially Central Coast’s goalkeeper, who couldn’t do much except fly and watch the ball go into the net. Even though this may have looked surprising to everyone who was watching, Boland had some confidence that it was going to go in. Via ABC.net:
“I thought I’d have a crack and luckily it’s gone in,” he said.
“I’ve scored a couple like that over my life but to do it on the national stage and for the club, against an A-League team, it was an important goal and probably the highlight of my career for sure.”
How does that saying go? “Fortune favors the bold?” Yeah, there we go.
