Marshawn Lynch calls Pokemon ‘Peekey-man,’ which is now the correct pronunciation

That’s what we’re going to call it too.

Jeanna Kelley has been covering the Falcons for The Falcoholic since 2011 and the NFL for SB Nation since 2015.

It seems like former Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch has somehow avoided the Pokemon Go craze, because when Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Marcus Peters tried to explain it to him, Marshawn wasn’t even sure how to pronounce “Pokemon.”

Peters briefly described the whole phenomenon to Lynch, who had no idea what Peters was talking about.

“There could be Pokemon in here right now,” Peters said, eyes wide at the thought of maybe catching something rare, like Pikachu or Charizard.

After Peters explains the basics of the game — opening the app, walking around, catching Pokemon — Lynch catches on pretty quickly to everything but the pronunciation of Pokemon. He tries “Pokey-man” and “Peekey-man,” and honestly, we’re fine with either of those, because it’s Marshawn.

In fact, we’re going to start calling it “Peekey-man,” too. Everyone else, take note. That’s how it’s pronounced now.

If Lynch wants a primer on Pokemon Go, he might want to reach out to his former teammate Richard Sherman, who is, to put it mildly, passionate about Pokemon.

But if someone develops a Marshawn Lynch app with similarities to Pokemon Go, we’re downloading it. Hopefully it will feature Lynch walking around and trying to catch quesadillas.
