Nothing says “football is back!” like the fights, both on the field and off it. The New York Jets are all too familiar with this tradition after quarterback Geno Smith was sucker punched by (former) teammate IK Enemkpali last August.
Brandon Marshall throws a punch at Darrelle Revis at Jets practice
They’re cool, though!

On Friday, it was another pair of Jets going after each other in practice. Brandon Marshall and Darrelle Revis, both competitive and used to being the best player on the field, turned a normal wide receiver/cornerback battle into a near brawl.
It escalated when Marshall threw a punch at Revis during practice, according to ESPN’s Rich Cimini. Marshall was then then lifted up and carried away by fellow receiver Quincy Enunwa. After scoring a touchdown on Revis, who had been winning the matchup, Marshall took it a step further and started taunting him about DeAndre Hopkins. Last year, the Texans wide receiver relished in “blowing up Revis Island” for 118 yards and two touchdowns.
Marshall told Kimberly Jones of NFL Network that Revis slapped at him first, which caused him to react.
It’s not the first time this week Marshall let his emotions get the best of him, either:
Offense having a terrible day. Brandon Marshall just punted a football over the bleachers here in frustration #NYJ

But after practice, Marshall had calmed down and the two were back on good terms and ready to move on:
.@BMarshall: "We're both competitors. Come from the same neighborhood, cut from same cloth. What happens on the field stays on the field."

Jets head coach Todd Bowles waved off any concern over the scuffle:
Bowles: "It's about that time of camp [when] things get pretty chippy."

And if any Jets fans are worried about team chemistry, there’s good news:
Marshall says Revis is back... He's seeing everything amazingly, breaking up a lot of balls... This is the most competitive we've been.
