The United States men’s gymnastics team for Rio features three returning Olympians from the London 2012 Games, including John Orozco, Sam Mikulak and Jake Dalton. The other two men representing the US in Rio are Alex Naddour and Chris Brooks, who were named as alternates to the 2012 team but who impressed enough in the Olympic Trials to earn spots on Team USA this time around.
Olympic gymnastics 2016: Time and TV schedule for men’s qualification
The men’s gymnastics team will be in action on the first day of the Olympics in Rio, trying to qualify for the medal rounds.


The US men in action will be participating in the afternoon qualifying session starting at 1:30 p.m. ET. (You can stream that here, via NBC.) There will be a live stream of the day's events, with NBC providing coverage of all of them, not just those pertaining to Team USA. NBC will also carry a tape delay of the event on television at 8 p.m.
Saturday’s qualifying round will determine which gymnasts advance to the medal round. The qualification round features 12 teams of five gymnasts apiece, plus 38 individual performers. Some teams, like Team USA, are comprised of athletes from a single nation while others are mixed groups that feature athletes from various countries.
